2011 Census Indexes Content Information
2011 Postcode to Output Area Index
An index table simply that indicates to which area a postcode belongs. It can be particularly helpful to users who may wish to compare other postcode-based data with census results.
Output Area to Higher Area Index
An index table that provides a link between the Output Area and the ‘higher’ area that the Output Area belongs to. This enables users to aggregate some output on an Output Areas base to a ‘higher’ area, such as Council area or Civil Parish.
Note
Users are reminded that the higher areas created from the allocation of Output Area may differ from the equivalent higher areas created by the allocation of postcodes from the National Records of Scotland Postcode Index. Further information on best-fit aggregations. Can be found in the Geography Policy section of this website.
