Correction 20 January 2023 - An error was found in the population data used to calculate 2021 rates in this publication. This has been corrected, with the overall Scotland mortality rate for 2021 changing from 60.4 deaths per million population to 60.3 deaths per million. There were small changes to the rates for council areas also.
