1. EU-27 is an abbreviation for the European Union with 27 Member States: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. In January 2007 Bulgaria and Romania also became Member States of the European Union.
