Esquire, Advocate, Sheriff Substitute of Lanarkshire
Compeared a prisoner and the charge against him having been read over & explained to him and he having been judicially admonished and examined declares my name is alexander mckinnon. I am a native of Hull, 19 years of age, a tailor & live in three Ell Road, Govan.
I wish to admit that I am guilty of the charge prepared against me of having broken into a shop in Govan Road, Govan on the 11th January current & of having stolen there from a felt hat & other articles all which I declare to be truth.

The forgegoing declaration written on this and the preceding page by John Lindsay, clerk in the Sheriff Clerk’s Office, Glasgow was of the date which it bears freely & voluntarily emitted by the therein designed alexander mckinnon while in his sound & sober senses & on being read over to him was adhered to and was subscribed by him and the said Sheriff Substitute before these witnesses, Thomas Haute Chalmers, writer in Glasgow, the said John Lindsay and William Mackintosh, Sheriff Officer assistant, Glasgow.
