Licensing
The UK Government Licencing Framework (National Archives website) provides an overview of the arrangements for licencing the use and re-use of public sector information in the public sector.
NRS Geography produces a number of products which include the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of other organisations and users should be aware of third-party rights and any need for licences. In these cases, the appropriate attribution/copyright statements should be used.
The following licences are required for each category of product issued by NRS Geography complete with the appropriate attribution/copyright statement:
NRS digital boundaries (Census geographies, Civil Parishes, Islands, Postcode Districts and Sectors)
Digital boundary products and reference maps (with the exception of Scottish Postcode Directory - postcode boundaries and grid references) are supplied under the Open Government Licence (National Archives website). The following copyright statements must be used when reproducing or using this material:

Scottish Postcode Directory - postcode boundaries and grid references
Free access to these datasets are restricted to members of the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) (Ordnance Survey website).
Access to these datasets are being made available for your personal, non-commercial use under the terms of the INSPIRE End User Licence (Ordnance Survey website) because it includes Ordnance Survey (OS) Licensed data.
By viewing and or downloading these datasets you will have been deemed to have accepted the terms of this licence. You may not sub-license, distribute, sell or otherwise make available any part of these datasets to third parties (including others within your business), except where expressly authorised in writing by us (the Licensor) and OS (for example, by having a valid licence for the data used in the creation of this dataset(s)).
Where re-use is permitted, the following copyright statements must be used when reproducing or using this material:

Scottish Postcode Directory - Indexes and Look-ups
Index and look-up products are supplied under the Open Government Licence (National Archives website) and the following copyright statements must be used when reproducing or using this material:
- Contains NRS data © Crown copyright and database right [year]
- Inclusion of Postcode Address File (PAF) information
For data with PAF information displayed the following statement should also be added:
- Incorporates data from PAF ® the copyright in which is owned by Royal Mail Group Limited and/or Royal Mail Group plc.
Pricing
All of our off the shelf products are free of charge and free from royalty payments to Ordnance Survey or Royal Mail providing customers meet all relevant licencing criteria.
National Records of Scotland (NRS) - Digital postcode boundaries
The terms of the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) (Ordnance Survey website) allow PSGA members to use NRS digital postcode boundaries without incurring additional royalty payments to Ordnance Survey. NRS also permit use for non-commercial purposes. Where commercial use is intended members must apply for approval from our Geography team.
Non PSGA members requiring NRS digital postcode boundaries should make their request to the NRS Geography customer services mailbox and include a description of intended use.
Royal Mail Delivery Point Count data
Royal Mail Delivery Point data (Delivery Point Count, Delivery Point Count Non-Residential, and Household counts) is available free of charge to Public Sector Geospatial Agreement (PSGA) members.
If you are not part of the PSGA, the data can be supplied for a charge (a royalty payment to Royal Mail). Users requiring this data should contact the Geography customer services team and include a description of intended use.
