Applying for a reader's ticket
You need a pass to access our 3 search rooms, also known as a reader’s ticket.
You can apply for a reader’s ticket on your first visit. You’ll need to bring it with you each time you visit. We only issue reader’s tickets to people aged 16 or older.
It's your responsibility to provide official translations for foreign documents, where necessary. Any change of your details, or any loss of the ticket, must be reported immediately.
By applying for a reader’s ticket, you confirm you agree to follow the conditions of access.
To apply you’ll need:
- proof of name
- proof of address
- 2 recent passport-sized photos of yourself
We’ve listed accepted types of document or ID below. Make sure to bring one of each on your first visit.
