We make records available to those who need access for a legal purpose.
Legal purposes means you need to find information to prove or defend a right or claim. For example:
- to prepare a legal case
- to establish something about a property purchase
- a case involving family law
We’ll supply digital copies wherever available, and can provide copies or extracts from original records.
We can provide:
- Sasine – extracts of deeds prior to 1 September 2006
- Burgh, Particular and General Registers - extracts and plain copy deeds of any dates
- Books of Council & Session – extracts and plain copy deeds dated prior to 1 September 2006
- Register of Inhibitions – plain copy and certified copy deeds dated prior to 1 October 2006
- Duplicate Plans

Copies of estates and wills
We can provide copies of Confirmations of Estates and Wills recorded up to 1999.
Estates and wills from 2000 onwards are available from the Edinburgh Commissary Office.
