We welcome requests to borrow from our collections for temporary exhibitions.
Ideally we require 12 months' notice in advance for any loan.
Loans will be considered for public display purposes only.
The loan period should ideally be for a maximum duration of 6 months, but in certain circumstances we may consider longer periods. Please contact us for further discussion regarding your proposed loan period.
All requests are considered, and borrowers contacted. Condition and preservation of the object will inform all loan decisions.
Borrowers may be required to cover costs, including:
- insurance
- transportation to and from the exhibition venue
- courier accommodation if required
- digital surrogacy
- mounts and stands

We will acknowledge receipt of your application and keep you informed.
NRS reserves the right to withdraw and cancel the loan at any time if it becomes apparent that either:
- the records would be at risk
- it is no longer possible to travel
In the interest of sustainability and under certain circumstances, we may offer a surrogate as a substitute.
