Lockers

Lockers for researchers are located in two areas:

• In General Register House, enter the building via the Garden Entrance and walk through the Reid search room to the Reid staircase and then follow the signs to the lockers and toilets.
• In New Register House, enter the building via the Dundas Entrance and the lockers are located in the corridor outside the Dundas search room.

Lockers are coin-operated and require a £1 coin: it will be returned to you when you open the locker door again.

All lockers must be emptied at the end of the day.

Luggage restrictions

No bags are permitted in the Historical or Legal Search Rooms, save for one small bag or waistpack measuring no more than 15cm by 20cm.

Small bags can be kept under your allocated desk in the ScotlandsPeople Centre but larger items such as suitcases are not permitted.

Left luggage facilities are available at nearby Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station and the Coach Station.
