Population and Household Projections for Scotland's Strategic Development Planning Areas (2006-based)
3. Total population
3.1 Population projections for the years 2006 to 2031 for SDP areas are shown in Table 1 and illustrated in Figure 1.

3.2 Population projections for SDP areas show the following trends:
- The population of Glasgow & Clyde Valley SDP area is projected to increase from 1,747,000 in 2006 to a maximum of 1,756,000 in 2017 and then decrease to 1,730,000 in 2031. From 2006 to 2031, there is a projected decrease of one per cent.
- The population of Aberdeen City & Shire SDP area is projected to increase from 440,000 in 2006 to a maximum of 466,000 in 2028 and then decrease slightly to 465,000 in 2031. From 2006 to 2031 there is a projected increase of six per cent.
- The population of SESplan SDP area is projected to increase from 1,192,000 in 2006 to 1,384,000 in 2031 - a projected increase of 16 per cent.
- The population of TAYplan SDP area is projected to increase from 470,000 in 2006 to 496,000 in 2031 - a projected increase of five per cent.
