UK Parliamentary Constituency (UKPC) Household and Dwelling Estimates (2011 Data Zone based)
Last update: 20 June 2024
Next update: June 2025
This section provides household and dwelling estimates for 57 UK Parliamentary Constituencies (UKPCs) in Scotland. The constituency boundaries and names correspond to those defined for the 2024 UK Parliament elections.
Parliamentary constituency boundaries may change from one election to the next. A constituency in the 2024 elections may have a different boundary from one with the same name in earlier elections. These estimates show how the households and dwellings in the 2024 UKPCs have changed over time.
Household and dwelling estimates for UKPCs are based on data zone household and dwelling estimates where each data zone has been assigned to a particular UKPC on a ‘best-fit’ basis. Where a data zone crosses the boundary of two (or more) UKPCs it was assigned to the constituency containing the location of the population-weighted centroid of the data zone.
More detailed information on the accuracy of estimates built up from aggregations of small area geographies to higher level, non-standard geographies is available for population estimates in The Evaluation of Non Standard Geography Population Estimates report.
Household Estimates provide data on the number and percentage of dwellings which are occupied, vacant, unoccupied exemptions, long-term empty, second homes, occupied and exempt from paying council tax, or that are receiving a ‘single adult’ Council Tax discount. The estimates are available for each year from 2014 onwards.
Dwelling Estimates provide data on the number and characteristics of dwellings including Council Tax Band, type of dwelling, number of rooms per dwelling and number of dwellings per hectare. The estimates are available for each year from 2005 onwards. Data for 2018 to 2023 on type of dwelling and number of rooms are not yet available for publication.
The datasets are in Excel format.
