Code-lists Used in Vital Events Statistics
Code-lists Used in Vital Events Statistics
A number of different code-lists are used in the National Records of Scotland’s Vital Events statistical databases. For example, some of the databases have separate variables for various types of geographical area, such as Councils (Local Authorities) and Health Boards, with each variable containing the code value that is appropriate for that case.
The links below provide access to a separate Excel spreadsheet for each of the main code-lists that are used in the Births, Stillbirths, Marriages, Civil Partnerships and Deaths databases. The maximum file size is 2.9 Mb.
Please Note: because the data on Divorces, and on Dissolutions of Civil Partnerships, are provided by the Scottish Courts Service (rather than by Registrars), many of these code-lists do not apply in the case of data on Divorces and Dissolutions.
