2011 Boundaries

Digital Boundaries

Digitised boundaries may be loaded into a user’s own Geographical Information System (GIS) and combined with census datasets to create visual analyses of the results. It also enables non-census geographies to be created for analysis with census data or enable other data to be linked to these boundaries.

All the boundary products below are shapefiles provided in ZIP format for use with 2011 Census statistics. File specification (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format) (PDF 48 Kb) for 2011 boundary products.

2011 Output Area code, old to new (Excel 4.01 Mb)
This file provides a look-up between the archived 2011 Output Area (OA) code (published 15 August 2013) and the new 2011 OA code, along with the council area code they are assigned to.

Coverage of boundaries (PDF 2.6 Mb)
This file explains the differences between the coverage supplied: Extent of the Realm and Clipped to the coastline.
