RMS Lusitania on the slipway of John Brown & Co, Clydebank while under construction

 

The bow of the Cunard Line ocean liner RMS Lusitania on the slipway of John Brown & Co Ltd, Clydebank, whilst under construction in 1906. She made her maiden voyage on 7 September 1907 and was briefly the world’s largest passenger ship until the completion of the Mauretania three months later. She was sunk on 7 May 1915 by a German U-boat 11 miles of the southern coast of Ireland, killing 1,198 passengers and crew.
